"Bear" The Discussion Form in Mind

While it’s true there isn’t much on our forum at the moment, it’s also true that the more people use it the more contacts you can make and lets face it, contacts though not the only important aspect of business, are seriously helpful. They are what can get our foot in the door and not on the bottom of a slush pile.

We're Featured in the Hudson River Sampler

We had a very nice article published about Mama Bear Productions in a small local paper. Nancy and I sat down with Lisanne and had a very nice time chatting in Ralph's "Pretty Good" Cafe. It's been very exciting being a local celebrity.

Great News for Blocked Writers, Artists, Songwriters and Creatives!

Hi there, Nancy Carey Johnson, Creative Director of Mama Bear Productions here. Thought I'd share something I've just recently discovered and found incredibly and immediately helpful! A couple of months ago I sent an email to a friend saying that for the first time since I started writing I've been blessed with writer's block - oh yea. I explained to her that this seems like a weird block in that I've got some GREAT ideas and even parts of songs and stories but I don't seem to be able to develop them which is making me NUTS!

Laurie's Stories - Putting the FUN in literacy FUNdamentals

Mama Bear Productions would like to introduce you to Laurie Story Vela from LaurieStories. Laurie is a prolific author, illustrator, story teller and performer whose mission is to put the FUN back in literacy FUNdamentals!

NOT Just For Little Kids

Hi there, Nancy Carey Johnson, Creative Director of Mama Bear Productions here. I know I've said this before, but some times things bear repeating! I am aware that some of you have concluded (due to Jolene's beautiful artwork) that Mama Bear Productions is only for littler children and their families. NOT so. "Family Centered " doesn't mean just for little ones, because as far as we know there are children of all ages in families and said children have all kinds of diverse interests.

We Love Sea Shanties!

Quite some time ago, Jolene wrote that we love cowboy songs (and we do!) and offered a reward to the first person to do a cool, original cowboy song with yodeling!

Adventures for Ordinary Kids

For the record, as I was having breakfast with my family and half listening to their discussion, something they said made me think of the old Hardy Boys series, which all of my boys enjoyed. To my knowledge there aren't any more modern adventure series for boys, especially where characters aren't "cool dudes" rather they are just plain, adventurous boys!

E-books Become Mainstream & the Kindle 3 from Amazon.com

Amazon has recently released its new lighter, thinner Kindle 3 , which was great news to us! For those of you who have been living in a cave, or folks (like us) who are very slow to jump on the bandwagon of newfangled gadgetry, the Kindle 3 is a device with which you can read books in electronic format. There are a few notable advantages to reading books this way. For one thing, the new Kindle 3 can hold twice as much as before, or up to 4 gigabytes - that's approximately 3,500 books! - saving a whole lot of shelf space. Improved battery capacity means that you can read e-books for up to a month between recharges. And at $139 to $189 , Kindle is competitively priced, especially for the high quality and long life of the device.

Building Blocks

Good evening, Nancy Carey Johnson here for Mama Bear Productions. I've been doing some thinking about writing/creating - yeah I know, when don't I? But one of the things I've been thinking about is building skills. There are many who have ideas but never get started because of inertia OR because they can't stand the thoughts of their work not being an immediate success so why should they bother?

Don't Lose the Lesson

Hi There, Nancy Carey Johnson of Mama Bear Productions here. Recently a friend had their heart broken due to the fact they'd submitted what they thought was good, solid, material for "consideration". Sadly, it was in essence stomped on. That's a hard place to be. My friend had 2 simultaneous knee-jerk reactions; the first was to give up entirely, the second was to go back, tear it apart and rewrite it.
