One of the things we envisioned when Mama Bear was first conceived was being as family oriented as possible including offering children's work, that is to say, work done by children. Below you'll see a copy of an email I received from Jolene.
Ashley's been writing books for some time. (Some better than others.) Now that I think of it, he's been very interested ever since I've started working on Mama Bear. Anyway, he saw me working on it today so he was scurrying to find his draft copy of Baby Animal Pets - A Poem by Ashley C. Pirrone. It's actually very good! Matt (her husband) was reading it to Marian (her 2 year old daughter) the other night. Matt must of read it 20 times and she'd scream if he'd try to put it away. I think we have a winner here! Each has it's own illustration. I'm encouraging him to do final illustrations and I'll help him put it all together. He did a dinosaur one a while back - I'll have to find it.
I've omitted the content of Ashley's story/poem because I'd like to offer it to you complete, that is to say illustrations and all. (Buy it now!) I'll tell you that it is perfect for little ones say 2 to 5 year olds and is a little reminiscent of Shel Silverstein's book "A Giraffe and a Half".
Talent comes in all ages, sizes, shapes, colors, religions and probably a whole host of other ways that I'm not thinking of. If one of your children or a child that you know has written a book or a song that is really good or that you're sure others will enjoy, please feel free to submit it!
Be well,
