Hi there, Nancy Carey Johnson, Creative Director of Mama Bear Productions here. I know I've said this before, but some times things bear repeating! I am aware that some of you have concluded (due to Jolene's beautiful artwork) that Mama Bear Productions is only for littler children and their families. NOT so. "Family Centered " doesn't mean just for little ones, because as far as we know there are children of all ages in families and said children have all kinds of diverse interests.
Books: If It's Good - It's GoodFor instance, while my boys (ages 12-17) enjoy books for little kids, especially if they are well written and the storylines are cute or funny or have entertaining characters, they really like to read age appropriate mysteries (The Hardy Boys), historical novels (Adam of the Road
) or adventure stories (Hatchet
, The Charlie Bone
Series). Then too, my 15 year old LOVES "How To" books, especially if it involves art; drawing, painting, carving or building things like treehouses or elaborate forts. Should you have written such a book, we'd LOVE for you to share it with the world by setting up a "shop" with Mama Bear Productions.
So too, if you're a musician, "Children's Music" doesn't have to be targeted for a very young demographic. And while my kids really enjoy Bill Staines song "Waltzing with Bears" and my two younger sons (12 & 13) ADORE Michael Mische's "Gorilla Walk" - it definitely appeals to their sense of humor! - they also like songs geared for an older demographic. As a parent and a singer/songwriter, I would prefer those "older" songs to be great even "hip" songs, but a little more wholesome then a lot of what's out there.
So, put on your thinking cap and let this percolate a little and lets get your work out there available to the public!
