Hi, Nancy Carey Johnson here. Recently I was speaking to a friend (who happens to be a fairly well known children’s book author and writing teacher), and discussing the fact that while children’s musicians have embraced Mama Bear Productions, there seems to be some resistance from children’s book authors.
While we discussed a lot of whys and wherefores, what we decided was 1). While the music industry has for some time embraced digitization and so online resources (like Mama Bear Productions) for children’s (and family centered) music etc. is an easy step. 2) The folks purchasing children’s books are not necessarily accustomed to ebooks.
What I found interesting is that my friend’s almost 16 year old daughter piped up and said “Oh, I’d rather read an ebook, but that’s because I was brought up using computers”.
Our conclusion? We both think that the publishing industry is going to go through a radical change and that at some point in the not too distant future, ebooks are going to be a very ‘normal’ part of life. Obviously the publishing industry hasn’t caught up to music industry, but we believe it will.
So, while you’re waiting to be discovered, why not kick start your dreams of being a ‘successful children’s book author’ and submit your work to Mama Bear Productions?!? There’s a whole new generation who are eager to read things on-line!
Best Wishes,
Nancy Carey Johnson
